Maintaining your riding surface

Maintenance
Once the surface has been laid it is important to undertake regular maintenance of the riding surface.
The benefits of maintaining the surface are:
- To achieve optimum performance
- To ensure stability and consistancy
- To prevent risk of damage to the membrane layer
The riding surface should be watered prior to use subject to rainfall and initially rolled daily, rolling is reduced once firmness has been achieved.
Excess surface materials should be brought in from the retaining boards and the surface levelled daily to achieve a uniform depth throughout.
All droppings and foreign bodies should be removed immediately.
In freezing weather aerating the surface after use and again the following morning prior to use will help to prevent the moisture within the surface from freezing.
Waxed surfaces will obviously require less maintenance than their unwaxed counterparts.
