A complete gallop and arena refurbishment
The Equestrian Surfaces team were called upon to replace an existing surface on an 800m gallop for a private client in Stow-on-the-Wold.
Having thoroughly assessed the client’s needs, our team worked alongside construction partners D&C GroundTec to replace the existing sand, fibre & rubber surface with over 4,000 tonnes of our superior Wax Track Racing surface.
Following the successful completion of works on the gallop, the client then requested our help to bring the surface on their outdoor arena up to scratch.
We were experiencing several injuries to our horses with the previous surface on our riding arena. We chose the Sound Track surface as it was developed to promote soundness in horses - and it has delivered! Since installing the surface, our horses are able to work for longer without the risk of injury we had previously!
“This was a lovely location to work in, and the finished gallop just looked incredible in the setting,” says Equestrian Surfaces Director, Tom Harper.
“In addition to laying a new surface, we also installed additional drainage to help with regulating moisture levels on the gallop, whilst working alongside the D&C GroundTec team to construct and install a new turning circle at the top.
“Our Wax Track Racing surface is ideal for all gallop work, and is best suited for endurance training, as the surface allows the horse to work deeper into it yet retain its structure throughout. This builds stamina and helps to prevent risk of injury, making it an ideal choice for our client.
“Once the gallop was complete, we then moved on to upgrading the surface on their beautiful 40m x 30m outdoor arena. The D&C team removed the existing surface, stripping it right back to the tarmac base, before installing 300 tonnes of our Sound Track surface. The team achieved a really quick turnaround on this project, and we were all pleased to see the client so happy with the final result.”
