Live Spectators Permitted at 2020’s Only 5* Event
The CCI 5* and the singles FEI driving World Championship at Pau have been approved to run as planned, with proposals for “managing the influx of visitors” approved by the Prefecture des Pyrenees-Atlantiques.
The event, set to take place between 21st – 25th October, will see a maximum of 5,000 spectators allowed access to the event areas and the shopping village at any time.
The carriage-driving marathon will feature as a main event on Friday 23rd October, and the cross-country competition will take place the following day, with visitors granted access to walk alongside the 6.5km course, set in the 65-hectare grounds of Domaine de Sers.
Health regulations as applicable to the event are due to be published on the event’s mobile app ahead of its commencement. It has been announced that visitors to the event will be required to wear a face covering at all times and in all areas whilst on site, but it is hoped that this guideline won’t deter people from attending.
Managing Director of Centaure Event and President of the 5 Etoiles de Pau, Pascal Sayous, said:
“So, masks at the ready then, to come and support this year’s event and, by doing so, the different equestrian and eventing disciplines that have borne the brunt of the crisis this year.
“A big thank you to our institutional partners and our exhibitors, who have faith in us and have stepped up once again to support the event this year.
“A special mention goes to all the volunteers from Pau Events – both the youngsters and those who have seen many an edition go by – who are still there to pitch in and help.
“Together, we are going to make this event a wonderful celebration to showcase the 30th edition.”
The team here at Equestrian Surfaces Ltd would like to extend good luck and well wishes to those participating at this year’s Pau 5*. We hope you you have a happy and safe competition!
