Royal Windsor to run for new dates in July 2021
Organisers of the prestigious Royal Windsor Horse Show have recently confirmed that the event will take place later on this year, with new dates of Thursday 1st – Sunday 4th July announced!
Originally set to take place from 12th – 16th May, the organisers announced the new dates following the Prime Minister’s announcement of the Government’s proposed roadmap out of lockdown, which sees restrictions gradually reduced over the coming months, removing most, if not all, by 21st June.
With the emphasis placed on competitors’ safety and adherence to the COVID-19 measures in place at the time of the event, Show Director, Simon Brooks-Ward, has said the team is looking forward to running “a near-as-normal show at Windsor” in July.
Simon Brooks-Ward added:
“The start of this year has been difficult for all live events, but recent government announcements have given us the confidence to go full steam ahead with the organising of Royal Windsor, which includes planning for an audience.
“We are determined to produce one of our best events for the horse world to enjoy, with a competitive and upbeat edition of this 78-year-old horse show.”
The schedule and day-by-day programming for the event will be shared online shortly, and is set to include many of the familiar classes, competitions and events, such as International Jumping, Dressage, the Land Rover International Carriage Driving Grand Prix, International Endurance, and Showing.
It has also been announced that, unfortunately, the Windsor Pageant, usually scheduled to take place in the evenings, will no longer form part of the programme. However, audiences should expect a “bumper edition” of the main show programme, which will take advantage of the long summer evenings to incorporate many of the Pageant elements.
Those keen to attend should keep an eye out for tickets going on sale – firstly made available to Royal Windsor Horse Show Club members, and then to the general public. Ticket holders are reassured that should the COVID-19 guidelines change and visitors are no longer permitted to attend the event, then all purchased tickets will be refunded. In addition, event organisers are intending to increase coverage of the show, with live-streamed events made available to watch online.
