An indoor and outdoor surface for Olympic Eventing Rider, Alex Hua Tian.
At Pinfold Stables, with an indoor school offering a 20m x 40m training arena, and a 65m x 43m outdoor menage, China’s star Olympic eventing rider, Alex Hua Tian, was tasked with the work of researching various surface suppliers across the UK to determine which could offer the best surface for his facilities.
Having visited a number of local arenas with our surfaces in place, Alex selected our Sound Track for his indoor school, deducing that its waxy properties would provide a consistent footing for dressage training, and help to instill both riders and horses with confidence, thereby improving performance.
Having evaluated a number of options, what sold us on Equestrian Surfaces was the fact that they manufacture their own fibre, and all of their surfaces are mixed in-house, allowing them complete control over their surface components and ultimately reducing the risk of any inconsistencies in the mix. Sound Track was definitely the right choice for our indoor arena, and we continue to rely on the surface for the confidence it offers to our riders.
“When we first moved into Pinfold Stables, there was a surface already in place on the outdoor arena, however it had fallen largely out of use, and whilst it initially looked to be adequate, after riding on it, it became immediately apparent that it would need to be replaced.

It’s absolutely perfect in Autumn, Winter and Spring with little maintenance, and then when the Summer months come around, it does require more regular irrigation, but this is something the Equestrian Surfaces team made us aware of from the very beginning.
