A Landmark Event in a Transforming Region
Saudi Arabia’s investment in the sport has been impossible to ignore in recent years, and the ARC showcased just how rapidly the region is becoming a global leader. From world‑class infrastructure to ambitious long‑term strategies, the Kingdom demonstrated a clear commitment to elevating both its local racing scene and its international footprint.
For us, it was a unique opportunity to see this transformation first hand — and to understand how it will influence global racing in the years ahead.
Key Themes That Shaped the Conference
1. Innovation Driving the Future
Across panel discussions and networking sessions, technology and data emerged as central themes. Conversations ranged from advancements in integrity systems to digital fan engagement, wagering innovation, and new approaches to broadcast and content distribution. It was exciting to see how many organisations are actively exploring next‑generation tools to modernise the racing experience — both on and off the track. A talk by AI expert Danilo McGarry was a wake up call for everyone to embrace these emerging technologies rather than shy away from them.
2. Global Collaboration at the Forefront
The ARC has always served as a global meeting point, but the 2026 edition felt particularly international. Over 650 delegates came from all major racing jurisdictions, each bringing their own insights, challenges, and ambitions.
We had the chance to connect with partners old and new including discuss emerging opportunities, and explore how greater collaboration can elevate standards, welfare practices, and commercial sustainability across the sport.
3. Saudi Arabia’s Growing Influence
A highlight of the trip was experiencing the Kingdom’s passion and long‑term commitment to racing. Beyond the glamour and major prize money, there is a strong focus on:
- Investing in world‑class facilities – Qiddiya City, AlMuatadil Equestrian Village, AlUla and Wadi Safar, Diriya, show Equestrian sports projects are playing a key role in Vision 2030
- Enhancing equine welfare standards
- Attracting international participation
This momentum signals an exciting shift in the global racing landscape — one that will open new doors for partnerships and cross‑border initiatives.

Why This Visit Mattered for Us
For our team, the conference was more than an industry gathering — Equestrian Surfaces Ltd. Sales Director, Thomas Harper, described it as an ”incredibly positive conference; providing us with the opportunity to speak to contacts, and deepen our understanding of regional developments, strengthen relationships, and align with the strategic direction the sport is heading toward.”
We left Saudi Arabia energised by the discussions, the connections we built, and the clear sense of ambition that permeated every part of the event.
Looking Ahead
As the horse racing industry continues to evolve, conferences like the ARC serve as invaluable touchpoints. They remind us that innovation, collaboration, and a global mindset are essential for driving sustainable growth.
We are excited to build on the momentum from our visit and explore the many opportunities that emerged during the conference.

Here’s to continued collaboration — and to a vibrant future for global racing and equestrian sport.
